A brief history
Tame Valley Stud was established in 1971 after being left the remains of the Reddicap Stud and Chieveley Studs. Our foundation mare was Reddicap Bella Donna by Coed Coch Glyndwr. The start of the story is with REDDICAP BELLA DONNA 13188. Born in 1959 after the
demise of her father Coed Coch Glyndwr. REDDICAP BELLA DONNA Foundation Mare Photo taken at 29 years of age
I had shown in hand from a small child but was sent to Gordon Jones (Stud Groom Gredington Stud) to be taught the tricks of the trade. My debut with a home bred filly was in 1973 at Northleach. The filly was Reddicap Veronica (daughter of BellaDonna) who won a large class on her first outing. Pictured below. Picture taken aged 17 years
Another daughter of BellaDonna was Supreme Champion REDDICAP JUNO. Born 1963 and a prolific winning mare in the sixties.

Reddicap Juno's granddaughter Seren Dlws is still with us and her daughter Tame Valley Seren Arian and son Tame Valley Sunstar and her granddaughters are Tame Valley Taffeta, Tame Valley Thomasina and Tame Valley Rhainna
Tame Valley Viking by Gredington Andreas (Coed Coch Planed x Polaris Betula) BENGAD ROSITA Foundation Mare The R line was founded when in 1993 Bengad Rosita arrived with us as a two year old and from her we have her daughter Tame Valley Rowan and grand-daughters Tame Valley Rosemary and Tame Valley Rhianna.
Warrenhill Peep Foundation mare The B line was founded when a good friend Di Scattergood was giving up breeding and offered to give me a young mare called WARRENHILL PEEP who was line bred to Coed Coch Madog sadly we lost her after only three years but not before she had left Tame Valley Peter and Tame Valley Belladonna. Peter was shown in hand as a yearling culminating in a third at the Royal Welsh and was then sold to go under saddle which he has successfully done. Belladonna a very successful show mare has produced a list of good foals : Tame Valley Blackjack, HOYS qualifier four years in succession. Tame Valley Bamboo, Tame Valley Bo-peep and not least Tame Valley Barbarella who remains in the stud.
Now with my husband we aim to breed ponies that will go on to lead useful lives in any field. |
